Mission Statement of the Maryland Minuteman Civil Defense Corps

The Maryland Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MMCDC) is a voluntary group of concerned American citizens who want our federal, state, and local governments to enforce the “rule of law” and the Constitution of the United States of America.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here.

Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

America is a nation of legal immigrants and our national promise has always relied upon those who come to America from other countries to participate fully as loyal and law-abiding U.S. citizens. Ethnicity, race and religion and all such factors are incidental and do not affect our constitutional equality as American citizens. Such factors are also irrelevant in the debate over illegal immigration. There is no tolerance among MMCDC members for racism or bigotry.

MMCDC members believe in a strong, safe and secure America that begins with borders open only to those who have legal right to enter, and who have met all the lawful criteria to cross into our territory established by the sovereign American people.

MMCDC members will assist law enforcement authorities in identifying and apprehending all those who violate our borders and laws, whether they are illegal alien workers, or persons illegally trafficking people, drugs, weapons, arms, property, prostitution or any other contraband.

MMCDC members vow to report to the proper authorities, and when appropriate to the news media, any elected official, government agency, private organization, religious institution or business entity which knowingly aids, facilitates, recruits or employs people who have entered America illegally.

MMCDC members promise to raise our voices -- along the borders of America, in every community and jurisdiction, and in the halls of Congress -- in the defense of the rule of law. The American people are firm but fair, and we share their great compassion for the many powerless foreign victims of corrupt governments and poverty, illegal human trafficking and labor exploitation.

More importantly, MMCDC members support our citizens' adamant rejection of the blatant disregard for our laws and ordered liberty represented by the U.S. Government's failure to secure our borders, enforce our nation's sovereignty and end the flood of illegal immigrants into American territory. This rejection extends to the use of Maryland State and local taxpayer funds to aid and abet illegal aliens.

We vow before God and our fellow Americans that these principles guide our actions as a Maryland Minuteman. "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty..." And so we will stand watch on America's borders and in our neighborhoods and communities to protect our sovereign interest.
